I am not a Republican nor a Democrat. I don't agree with either party's actions or ideologies. It seems to me that both sides are not honest and are not public servants as a whole but rather selective in who they serve. It is quite obvious that the Democrats cater to the population that will keep them in office and attract the most votes. The Republicans attract those who are self serving with an attitude of every man for themselves. In reality both parties left unchecked will destroy this economy. The divide has never been so great in my lifetime.
What the GOP hates the most is the money give away to those undeserving immigrants. Their argument from what I can gather is 'I work hard for my money and I'm not giving it to an illegal who doesn't work at all." These are the same people that have illegals cut their lawn, hire illegal au pairs, go to restaurants with illegals working in the back, and hire construction crews to put additions on their homes by the labor of illegals. They know this, but look the other way when it serves them. They talk about how they hate socialism but are happy with socialism in the stock market. Government bailouts, Federal Reserve bond buying, low taxes, low interest rates, are forms of socialism for the wealthy. These actions dilute the dollars and punish those who only have dollars, i.e. people who cannot save and work paycheck to paycheck. By diluting the dollar and artificially inflating asset prices they do a great job of socialism, but they label it differently because it serves them well.
I give no credit to Democrats though because they refuse to move to the middle and capture those undecided minds. People like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Bernie Sanders and Elisabeth Warren want everything paid for by those who earn good incomes. Yes it does excite their base giving them hope for the future without putting in a lot of effort, but to promise you are going to pay for college education and healthcare off the backs of hardworking Americans will never let you win an election nor will give you a booming economy.
Those presidents who work the middle road seem to the best for all people. The current Republicans don't really care about ALL people and the Democrats don't care about rich people so until these two sides meet somewhere in the middle the battle will continue.
It is unfortunate that a third party could never gain enough traction to win. You would need a population who didn't rely on one news source because every one of them has an agenda. You can blame that on Ronald Reagan who vetoed the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. The doctrine, instituted by the Federal Communications Commission as public policy in 1949, requires the nation’s radio and television stations to “afford reasonable opportunity for the discussion of conflicting views on issues of public importance.”
All we are left with is broadcasters with an agenda. The public is too busy to figure this out. They believe that Fox or CNN is telling them the whole story. In reality you must watch both to get the truth and re-create your own fairness doctrine. They either have no clue that they are being lied to by both sides or they like what they hear on one side and stay tuned in.
The battle goes on to convince the public what is best for this nation as this nation crumbles. The rich are getting very rich, but this too will soon end as they will create so many poor people that the pendulum will swing back to the other side and socialism will rise for the poor.
If only we had someone to lead this country who can see both sides and explain both sides clearly. So far I see no one who wants the job.
